New Normal
“The new normal. A strange and unprecedented time. This time we find ourselves living in. The world will never be the same.”
We’re hearing these phrases over and over lately – in emails from restaurants we’ve only been to once, in commercials for tough sounding trucks and tempting credit card offers, in social media posts from organizations trying to stay relevant while staying afloat. As people all over the world try to cope with the medical, economic and personal impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, we are seeing a variety of responses ranging from highly creative to deeply desperate.
As Christians asking ourselves what God might be up to during this time, it’s that last idea that catches our attention. “The world will never be the same.” Let’s hope so.
Rarely if ever has the entire world seen such a complete disruption to our daily lives. And with this disruption comes a unique opportunity to unite in prayer and trust in God’s word. Our response matters, and right now Christians are being called to pray together as a living example of Jesus’ prayer to become one, so that the world may believe.
The Unite714 prayer movement is bringing believers together by offering daily and weekly prayers based on God’s promises in 2 Chronicles 7:14 — that when we humble ourselves, unite in prayer and seek His face, turn from our wicked ways, He will hear us, He will speak, He will forgive, and He will heal our lands. Join with churches during weekend services and thousands of believers all around the world as we stop to pray at 7:14 every morning and evening for God’s work in the world in this disruptive moment. And after this moment has become a memory, we are praying that in fact, the world will never be the same.
“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
